The FS campaign launched at Batticoloa to address the issues of farmers and fishers. The program was held with the leadership of women federation of Batticoloa district.
Landing two SeaPlanes to Batticoloa lagoon has created disturbances to lagoon fishermen and they were highly articulated against the SeaPlane project.
Shanthi the women leader of the organization raised the issues of paddy farmers as they were affectdd with the paddy marketing.
As an outcome of the work carried out in Batticoloa the group decided to engage to mobilize people against SeaPlane landing.
Antony Jesudasan and Lavena Hasanthi motivated the group for the FS meeting. The follow up workshops will be organized with the participation of the officers, religious, fishers, agriculture workerz, women in order to build social movement to face the challenges. Sri Vimukthi Fisher Women Organization and NAFSO secretariat to educate and mobilize the Communities in Batticoloa lagoon.
