Seminar on IDPs and their land issues were conducted at Jaffna today claiming the land back to the people of origin. The research report compiled by NAFSO & in collaboration with PA network. The report is focus the attention on "Let them Go back to their places of Origin,In and with Dignity". We were presented the same report at BMICH and the follow up actions were taken to get the land back.
* Meet Minister for Peace Dialogue Mano Ganeshan and discuss the contents of the report
* Meet the Resettlement Ministers advisor Mr. Bradman Weerakoon
* Submission of the report to relevant diplomatic missions
* Approached PM office for dialogue with Ranil Wickramasinghe for claim land for people
At the Jaffna seminar today Mr. Muththaiah Sivagnam said, "there is no point of words of gratitude. We want the deeds with returning the our own land back. Nothing more than that. We have been living in the camps 26 years now. We have our own deeds and we need practically go back to the coastal land."
Rajeshwarie Selvamalar, a leader of Poonthalir women federation of NAFSO said, "We are not treated as respected persons in the country. Are we secondary level citizens in this country? No we are already feeling the good governance government is also neglecting the Tamil people's rights."
As a part of the land rights campaign to achieve the food sovereignty the struggle is continuing till we achieve the land rights.
