Amidst CID/ Police threats Brave Pasikuda fishers launched Land Rights Now Campaign! Bravo Fishers Bravo!

The Pasikuda fishermen gathered at the Pasikuda beach and at anchorage point this morning conducted a peaceful protest demanding their land rights. This protest was co-incidence with the Land Rights Now Campaign launched worldwide.
Shashikaran Poonyamorthi, the NAFSO coordinator facilitated to gather fishermen at the beach.
There was a threat from CID hence Shashi and the fishermen conducted the protest  before police or CID approached them.
Last Night, CID personnel have approached Mr. Christy the fisher leader who organized the symbolic protest and they were threatened him not to conduct the protest.
However, once Shashikaran, our field coordinator had reached the Oasikuda beach early morning by 6.30 am once he learned the threat and had done the protest before the police come there.

Immediately after protest over there were two police vehicles reached the Pasikuda beach and took photographs of the flags hoisted there in the beach.
Also, they wanted to know the telephone number of Shashikaran and he told the fishermen to give the number.
I informed Shashi, for any further inquiry give my telephone number and I will attend to answer them.

As Shashi has gone to the place with media journalists, some reports are already coming up and this link below is from Weerakesarie, a Tamil web news and also there is a print media of Weerakesarie which will appear probably tomorrow news paper.
