NAFSO team lead by Pradeep and Jesy mef and discussed with internally displaced community at Pallumunai, where 25 houses are being ouupied by Navy and people are displaced in Mannar district.
When our team met the affected community they said,
"We want our own land and we dont want any alternative land. We need more stronger lawyer and need to change present one for strong legal battle".
This is some thing people need to talk to the organization which legally supported to them.
A team of community members will meet and discuss with HHR organization which supported to them in next Monday and get final decisions. After that meeting they will sit with the Catholic priest in Pallimunai to discuss the next steps.
"Navy is proposing an alternative land and compensation for the community. But people are strongly demand their land and not any compensation." Said Jesudasan the Coordinator, People to People Dialogue of NAFSO.
"Our role is to mobilize people to reach their goal through educating and animation process". Said Pradeep Wanigasuriya the admin secretary of NAFSO.
Helen amma of Pallimunai community says that they will not be given up the struggle until they reach the goal.
