VGGT Hand Book Completed

The Voluntary Guidelines on Governance of Tenure well known as VGGT was adopted at CFS at FAO in May 2012. There was no dialogue in SL society till NAFSO pioneered to take the dialogue forward. NAFSO translated the VGGT into Sinhala and Tamil languages last July and conducted series of discussions among fishing and farming communities accross the country. Training of community leaders were carried out and received feed back in many aspects. One important point emerged was the necessify of a explanatory manual which could be helpful for lead the land struggles.
Though there are serious negative aspects such as "INVESTNENTS" NAFSO decided to prepare a People's Manual for the leaders to learn and use as a tool for land campaigns we engage in.
We organized a 3 day WS which was dnded today with much progress.
The main contents of the Manual was completed and Various Case Studies were collected from various land campaigners, the leaders wbo are engage in the land struggles as well as the civil society actors engage in the land reform activities.
One day program will be conducted to complete the work by next week.
