NAFSO team attended the Kilakka Suriyan, Ampara district Women Headed Families organization meeting at Addalachenai. The women those who attended the meeting reflected the importance of their being together as women leaders. The victories they achieved even though they are small in the lens of out side world they made a difference to their lives.
One woman in the group from a remote village in Addalachenai Pradesheeya Saba said, "We were able to get the water supply to our village because we mediated as Kilakka Suriyan women leaders. This is a strength to isolated and also neglected women like us. We are now strong socially as we are not alone and we work together. I am sad that we do not meet on a regular intervals to continue discuss our issues. We need to meet and address our issues collectively.
While responding to women's requests Lavena Hasanthi, the women coordinator of NAFSO said, "Our team expect to meet the bases on regular intervals. However wr also in a dofficulty to do so due to time and resources constraints. NAFSO always give high priority to women's issurs in which Women Headed Families get the highest attention. So we continue the dislogue and united actions further.'
Zahira Ismail, the leader of the women's group who got the invitation from Sri Lanka Muslim Congress to run the local government as a candidate also shared her views and got the consent from the group.
