There is a media briefing in progress at Yalpadi hall in Jaffna today with concern CSOs in Jaffna, in collaboration with Concern political parties including TNA, TMLF etc. Scholars, religious leaders against the allegations of government sponsored fisheries organizations on the protest organized to remind the authorities to their promise on 15th February to provide land within 3 months, ethnic and religious harmony in present context, fuel crisis and relief to fisher communities, disappeared people's family issues.
The ruling party politicians in the area together with fisheries ministry sponsored fisheries organizations accused NAFSO saying we are doing unnecessary thing while government is doing everything for fishermen. It is clear the politicians are fear of highlighting people's issues and want to cover up the landless, displaced people's issues. Because they do not want to expose the issues of IDPs as they have already informed to the world through the 2013 March Human Rights Council that there are no single IDP in the country from 26th September 2012. So when we the CSOs, religious groups, political parties and affected people come together Government forces got excited and now attempting to block peaceful way of expressing our views.
It is already more than enough the impact of the peaceful demonstrations of Satyagraha, signature collection and petition submission to the district secretary.
We assess this as an impact of our work and we question why the authorities are so much worry about people's United voice of Southern and northern people.
