The global small scale fisheries organizations, WFF and WFFP and also fish worker supportive organizations are excitingly awaiting to see the adoption of Voluntary Guidekines on Small Scale Fisheries (VGSSF) at the 31st session of the COFI at FAO during the week of 9-13 June.
However, there is an issue on the proposed paragraph 6.18 of the guidelines on "Occcupation Situations" between Arab world and Canada/ USA. At the technical committee meeting which was held at FAO headquarters in February there was no consensus arrived at on the issue and postponed to take final decision at COFI 31ST Session which is now being sitting here in Rome this week in June.
All the SSF in the world will be delighted to see the consensus among all the States and adoption it in the present COFI session.
