The main development strategy in post war Sri Lanka is tourism. We can see the "Mad Cow" development of tourism in this process.
Where ever we go in the coastal areas it is seen the newly constructed hotels in many parts of the country.
Either it is Kalpitiya islanda in the N/W, Pasikudah, Kalkudah, Vakarei, Paanama, Nilaweli In the east, Millikulam, Lankapatuna, in the north, Rathgama,
Koggala, Gandara in the south the SSF communities are facing forceful evictions or threat of losing coast, anchorage point or landing site, or lagoon, sea beach or tanks.
How do we work out an effective campaign to unite fishers, resist the land and sea grabbing, build strong movement are our challenges ahead.
Can we think of a campaign of people
to bring together while organizing a People's March from community to community.
This was our discussion point we had today in our vehicle.
