"Neercolombo Kalapu Poraattum" book Launched

Negombo fisher people's historic lagoon struggle was documented by NAFSO and translated in to Tamil.
The Tamil translation was launched at the meeting held at Trincomalee Urban council today.
Negombo lgoon struggle was implemented by Alliance for protection of Negombo Lagoon in 2010 to fight against the infamous SeaPlane project which was planned to land air taxis in to Negombo lagoon. This was one among 3 major projects which were planned to commemorate victory and swearing in as President.
Ceremonial opening of Norochcholai coal power plant, Hambantota Magampura harbor and SeaPlane projects were in the plan. However, Negombo people had the courage and dtermination to defeat the SeaPlane project and protect the lagoon and save the lagoon, livelihoods of 3000 fisher folk depending on the lagoon.
NAFSO took the initiative to document it in Sinhalese and to translatw into Tamil. English translation also being done and the publication is on the way.
