The VGGT & VGSSF supposed to be important instruments to advocate the rights of the small scale food producers. The adoption of VGGT and VGSSF in FAO raised the hopes of the people engage in fishing agriculture forest pastoralists and women in all sectors.
However the implementation is so slow in the country level due to many reasons. The implementation will depend on how far the civil society is strong and push the State to do their job.
There are many processes going on to motivate the governments all over the world.
One way is to mobilize the communities educating them and Popularizing the contents of the guidelines.
Creting a Popular Manual is underway and WFFP/ NAFSO is also engaged to draft it. In 2014 NAFSO organized a South Asian WS in Negombo to provide WFFP inputs in related to small scale fisheries.
The Popular Manual will be out soon as Yi shared with us the final draft of the Manual.
