Sri Vimukthi Women are moving forward on leadership formation

The third step of Sri Vimukthi Wome Leadership formation  conducted today at NAFSO.
Antony Jesudasan and Subashinee Kamalanathan conducted sessions on Citizenship, civil society, democracy and accountability. The women leaders were articulated on the way the citizens should engage to ensure their rights and reflected how they committed during the time of previous regime in platform for freedom, Veediye Virodaya and also at the Sea Plane struggle of the Negombo lagoon.
Women leaders felt difficulty to understand what is the difference between accountability and responsibility.
However, Subashinie, the coordinator of Sri Vimukthi and the facilitator of the session  explained with an example women were understood what accountability meaning.
"Once we convene the regional committee the women leaders responsibility is to attend the meeting. If anyone could not attend the meeting due to sickness of a child is a valid reason not to attend the regional committee. However, it is accontability of a woman to inform organizers why she couldn't attend the same meeting."

Antony Jesudasan, the PPD Coordinator of NAFSO explained the difference between government and civil society. And he explained why we take a stand on certain issues which are not beneficial to the people in the country.
"We are not recognized by  the state as we take some strong positions against what  government take. For instance State oppressive machinery came behind us during the post Sea Plane victory as we mobilized Negombo people against the destructive development project of the previous regime. So this is why the civil society leaders having hard time for the survival"
So the 3rd step of the women leadership programme concluded successfully today at NAFSO.
