Fisheries Minister is attempted to convince the benefits of Colombo Port City

The Fisheries Minister and his officials met fishermen at Negombo to convince the fishermen that there is no any destruction to fisher communities in and around Negombo. Amidst serious findings of adverse effects to the coastal eco system in the EIA report, the politicians are trying to convince the fisher people that there is no destruction from Port City at the meeting held today.
Govt. of Sri Lanka is moving ahead with the Colombo Port City project with the support of China Construction Communication Company [CCCC] without taking into account the concerns of the people affected, the fishing community, the people who responded adequately to the EIA report and the concerns of the civil society which has not only highlighted their grave concerns but vehemently opposed the project due to its adverse effect on ecosystem is a violation of their basic right for participation in good governance and decision making.
Aruna Roshantha, the chairperson of All Lanka Fisher folk trade union said, "We can not agree to the politicians myths, that there is no any adverse effects on fishermen when the Port City constructed. Then why Govt. is planning to pay Rs. 500 million compensate the fishermen?  We know that the govt and the politicians are trying to mislead us.  But, we are not ready to listen these lies of the politicians again and again. Why PM Ranil Wickramasinghe said that there is a serious coastal destruction and damage to fisher communities from Colombo to Kalpitiya in the north and Colombo to Hikkaduwa in the South during the election campaign."
It could seen in the pictures that the sarcastic faces of the politicians when Aruna is challenging them.
