The Indian Consular Mr. Nadarajah, received the petition from the Northern Province Fisher People's Unity once the fisher leaders approached the consular office at Jaffna yesterday.
Mr. S. Subramaniyam, the secretary to the NPFPU and the Chairpersons, Jaffna district cooperative society federation had handed over the petition to the Indian consular.
While handing over the petition Subramaniyam appreciated the support from India on Tamil people's cause though he register his grievances due to Indian trawler issue and expected more closer look to the issue.
"We can not forget how Indian government helped us during the war. However, after the war, we are reviving our lives and livelihoods now. We urge Indian central government and Tamil Nadu government pay attention of Northern Sri Lankan fishermen's grievances and help us to find an amicable solution to Indian trawler issue."
:We never forget what Indian did for the Tamil People's cause. But we are helpless as our livelihood rights are taken away by Indian trawlers." Added, Subramaniyam.
