Northern area fishing communities face serious damage on their livelihood, economy and envitonment due to encroachment of Indian trawlers on to Sri Lanka waters.
At WFD celebration held at Jaffna, Indian trawler issue became core issue to address.
Hand over A petetion to deputy high commissioner Indian consulate in Jaffna and to the minister northern provonce was one of the major items. The petition was handed over by N.M. Alam, the chair of northern province fisheries unity ay the WFD.
The Mannar district fishdries solidarity performed a drama which highlighted the same issies.
