Miridiya Organization Polonnaruwa has organized the Children day program at Kaduruwela town with the participation of hundreds of Children and youth together with their parents. Miridiya Organization is one of a partner of NAFSO which implement both children and youth programs with more than 200 children and 150 youth as members. The members of Miridiya Organization both men and women came forward to protect the rights of the children enthusiasticaly as they were also voluntarily expected to launch such campaign to register their protest against child abuse and violence against women.
Manoj Silva, the coordinator of the Miridiya Organization expressed his views at the protest and said "Children are insecure in many ways today. Rapes, killings, abductions for claiming ransom are increasing day by day. As an organization which work on Child rights, we can not be silence once the children's lives are in danger. We all need to be on alert not only on the children's day, but all the time of the life of children."
Kamani, the women coordinator of the organization said, "It is not only child, their mother also in danger. We should work to protect both mother and child from all types of abuses and violence."
The momentum NAFSO built on the issue through island wide campaign should be strengthened and vigorously implemented with widely networking with other concern groups. Added Manoj at the end of the program held at Kaduruwela.
