Air Force constructing hotel and cabanas in Somasiri's Land too!

Cabinet decided to release Paanama lands and return to people on 11 February 2015 after Mahinda Rajapakse regime had changed. The Cabinet decided to release 340 out of 365 acres land and retain 25 acres as there are construtions going on in the land area.
After 5 months gone, there was no formal process brgan to hand over the land back to the people. Paanama peoples concern was to get their land back before the General Election 2015, in August.
On 15th July people attempted to go back to their lands which police mediated and stopped saying there will be accelerated process and speed up the formalities to hand over the land before 17th August. However, the retained 25 acres land belong to Somasiri and many others which all agreed to share the remaining amount of land without discrimination.
On 15th July at the confrontation at Raagamwela we were able to capture a photograh which air force is constructing buildings in those lands.
At the beginning the revealed govt plan was to build up an international relations centre though it is a fact that Cabanas constrution for hotel complex.
Somasiri, the Organizer, Paanam Pattu Protection Organization says, "I am one of  the biggest victim of the land grabbing here. My land is also belong to the area of retaining 25 acres land for hotel construction. Although we have to face difficulties we agree to share the remaining lands. We want to return our agreed land before the General Election on 17th August."
Now Paanama people are agreed to wait another 2 weeks before they take next step forward.
"We won't give up our struggle until we get our land back. We do not want any alternative land where no water for drink and agricuture and also the elephants are always attack people and kill. The only solution is to hand over agreed land back to people." Said G. Kusumawathie, a land owner who lost their land at Raagamwela, Paanama.
So it is very clear Paanama community will continue their struggle till they win it. And we NAFSO and PARL, emphasis that we are with the community until people reach their goal to win over their land.
