Well being! differ to man to woman, place to place and more learning at MARE Conference

The well being of fishing communities are different place to place within the contry also country to country etc. The study findings of perspectives of well being of Godawella and Gamwella of Hambantota district was presented by Prof. Oscar Amarasinghe of Ruhuna University, SL at the MARE conference today.
He said, the highest important well being aspiration of Godawella men is having a "good wife" where as the women's well being aspiration in the same village is to be a "good mother" and this is an interesting learning the difference aspirations between men and women.
Interestingly in Gamwella village Men's aspirations are the same "Good wife" where as the women's aspiration is "Unity" as the highest imporrant.
However when we consider the pushing factors from the fishing sector, both the villagers came up the risky environment (Hurricanes) and the resource declining.
The hurricane in June 2013 caused the death more than 100 fishermen lives in the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
The presentation of Prof. Oscar made the well being concept clear to those who are not very clear and begginers of learning the well being concept. This is very important growing concept emerging to assess the people's living conditions.
