Forgotten people with Frustration: Mullikulam community

Mullikulam people gave up their struggle afterGotabaya Rajapakse's promises made with the mediation of Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith on December 26 in 2012.
The group was divided in to sevaral pieces. Each group became informants providing information against the others. Some of the very active volunteer active youth became nursary teachers supported by Navy with high salaries. Youth who were ready to die for gain the lands and fight for assert their rights were became deadly silence. Church leaders including bishop of Mannar were helpless with the  silence of people.
When my colleagues in NAFSO attempted to meet the community, there were CID/ NIB officials were waiting to welcome our team but not the community members. At the same time a book was written on Mullikulam with highlighting the church and civil society engagement on Mullikulam land struggle and not a single word of involvement of NAFSO & Praja Abhilasha land rights movement.My collegue Basil Soosai, the coordinator of Mannar district had to leave the country with his deep engagement on IDP communities and Mullikulam people in particular. 
With all these matters made us not to engage in with enthusiasm in Mullikulam land atduggle.
However, Sr. Deepa who was a committed member of our team did not want to give up the engagement in Mullikulam struggle. She continuously encouraged us to motivate people and reinitiate the process and reengage the struggle in which NAFSO did not listen.
However, Sr. Deepa did attempt to motivate the southern groups and succeeded today to bring a team to visit Mullikulam. She wrote to me and expected Raajan, my colleague who coordinate Praja Abhilasha land rights group to join with the team.
Today the southern team met some community members in Mullikulam and expect to get the support from concern all. With the results of the visit, if people are still rready to fight for their land, housing, livelihoods rights, we are ready to mediate and join hands with the team. We do hope Sr. Deepa would brief us the situarion. Till them we are awaiting with hope.
