Buddhist monks image was not so bright among minority ethnic groups in the past few years. The Muslims were attacked severely and people wearing robes were seen leading such violent acts.
However, some 20 monks from Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Dambulla, Kalpitiya and Chilaw were joined the NAFSO lead people to people dialogue on reconciliation and good governance at Jaffna on 4th February the independence day of the country.
Rev. Bandiwewe Diyasena thero, who lead the monks said, "We, the followers of Lord Buddha are the peace makers and building ethnic harmony in this country and not the trouble makers. We came here to extend our hand to our Tamil, Muslim and Sinhala brothers and sisters to invite to work together for building the nation."
"We will continue this dialogue in the south and will preach for sustainable peace." Added Rev. Diyasena.
