Pass syatem will affect fisher's livelihood again

The fishing in northern and eastern districts were adversely affected with restrictions imposed them during the war. However there was much improvement experienced after the war ended due to lifting the bans.
N. M. Alam the chairperson of Mannar district fisheries cooperative union phoned me today.
"There is a new development here as the Mannar fishermen need to go through a security checking at Mannar bridge. People are fear of this as the first step towards imposing restrictions again on them."
This is not the N/E people as a whole expected by voting in favour of incumbant President Maithreepala Sirisena.

"We can take this idea forward as we meet tomorrow as Northern Province Fisher People's Union." Added Alam through his telephone conversation

"We do not think our President run down the northern province people's aspirations for decent life which we did not get from previous regime." Benedict Cross another fisher leader of Arippu fishing village told to me.

This is some thing we, NAFSO steering committee take up today. Sensitizing southern people over these sensitive issues is one way of building bridges towards reconciliation.
