The Galle regional committee met at SFO-Office at Devinigoda, Dodanduwa today. The members of the committee shared the views on the leader and the late coordinator D. Gnanadasa. Last January 8, the presidential election day morning we got the message and this was a great loss for the fisheries movement. The members shared how Gnanadasa contributed to change their lives for a better situation.
"Our lives became better when Light Purse Seine nets were banned and law enfircement due to the struggle of the people. Gnanadasa was one of the key leader behind the struggle. We are gratitude to SFO for the leadership of the struggle. In honour of Gnanafasa our struggle should be continued."
The light purse seine issue was discissed in length and agreed to continue the struggle and proposed the following process.
* Write a common letter to all relevant authorities including politicians and officuals, Navy. The same letter will be sent to media,
* Convene a media discussion which lead by the fisher leaders,
* Organize a poster and leaflet campaign highlighting the fisher issies,
* Get an appointment from fisheries minister within this month,
The ssf leaders began their struggle for sustainable fisheries.
