"Anavilundawa reserve should be protected" says villages

Protestors of Anavilundawa village stage a protest today demanding stop the Destructive Asbestos sheet factory at Anavilundawa.
Protestors say the proposed Asbestos factory will destroy Puttlam lagoon as well as a threat to the Anavilundawa Birds Paradise.
There is an allegation that with out prior approval of the Divisional Secretary the project has been carried out.

Laksiri Fernando, NAFSO youth and environmental coordinator said to media that the "Demands of protestors are just and very valid as the water sources for local communities as well as the Puttlam lagoon would be affected through the effluents of the factory. There should be mechanism to adopt to listen the grievances of local communities."

A villager, Lasantha Wickramaratne said "We do not have any other place to live. We have been living in this land for generations. So we will not allow the factory to destroy our lives and livelihood for profit."
Some politicians such as Shantha Abesekara of N/W Provincial council also had joined with the protestors  at Anawilundawa junction today.
