The IGSSF is an instrument for securing, sustainable, small scale fisheries in the world. However, it is debatable as there is no universal definition to Small Scale Fisheries and different place to place, country to country.
The importance is that there is a reference for States how they should engage on the social development, gender equality, protection from natural calamities, post harvest practices, trans boarder issues and find possible ways uplift the fisher family situation.
However, the issue once again is the awareness of the groups who are working on rights of the people. Most importantly the global attention on small scale fishers is a begining for change the life for a better one in the future.
This is a first step to move forward thousands of steps towards the better life and transformation of society.
