Indian trawlers in Palk bay consider as IUU fishing: APFIC report says

In January, once the Reincorpfish team met the Senior officials including secretary Mrs. Adikari, the main argument of them was to why Reincorpfish team not highlight Indian trawlers as IUU fishing vesseles.
We were not taking this stand due to the political consequences and geo political realities of the region hence maintain to dialogue and solve issue.
However, the APFIC has reported Palk Bay fishing by Indian trawlers also as IUU fishing is a big step on the issue. The information we gathered shows the Palk Bay Indian trawler issue is in the 5th place out of 35 places study.
