"We are still awaiting to receive our land back"- says Myletty people

It is some what encouraging to see that the people in Jaffna peninsular getting land back gradually. People in Valikamam north have received land around 1100 as government says.
The discouraging factor is that there are around 5000 acres of land still to be given back to the people.
This disturbance report came out exactly the same day which we conducted the WS in Jaffna on Land & Human Rights which is supported by STP-Swiss organization.
People from Myletty fishing village those who attended the WS shared their deep sorrow and Concern about their land which are still under military otherwise high security zone.
Subramaniyam, secretary of the northern province fisher peoples unity (NPFPU) while drafting a map of their lost land said, "the hope of the people is still high though the government did not release their land yet. People think they will get land at the next step."
However it was revealed with the mapping exercise that there is a new hotel is under operation by military in the Myletty area which is a news for us.
This is important fact that the Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe expressed his concern about Military involvement in Tourism industry during his tenure of his government. This is important factor that we need to raise at the Round Table Discussion on 3rd February at SLFI in Colombo.
