Plans for 2010 for SVFWO -Negombo

Women leaders and the NAFSO secretariat staff met yesterday at SVFWO office for plan for the future for their involvement. There were 16 women leaders with NAFSO AED officer, Gender and Development officer and the Convener joined the dialogue and also got the assistance from Susil Prashantha and Shayama Fernando of Pitipana for the work.
The main points we discussed were based on the proposed work to the AGM of NAFSO on the 21st November at tangalle.
So, there were 10 points to discuss and arrange the programs.
> Self employment and Food Processing,
> Primary health care and health education program,
> Disater Mitigation and management training Program,
> Media and communication program for the Youth,
> Women and Violence Program,
> Leadership program for Membership formation and strengthening,
> Some campaign of Lagoon fisher people's issues and the destructive fishing,

However, there were 3 points that we could not discuss in detail as the time was around 1.30 and some mothers wanted to go home for cooking and other work they committed alread.

But, for the health education program Sirimal Peiris will attend to plan out for the work schedule for their regional committee meeting on 17th 3.00 pm at SVFWO.
For the Communication program for youth we will facilitate the dialogue with Shamitha and Freddie Gamage of meepura and need to contact both of them.

For the IGP and Food processing, there should be a plan prepared by the appointed committee and they will submit it by next meeting.
Then the Pradeep Wanigasuriya NAFSO AED officer and the team will facilitate the follow up work by 20th Jaanuary 2010.

Also, the food processing work, primarily the dry fish productions and food items will be conducted with the help of Shayama Fernando by 17th December 2009.
Also, the disaster work will be done with Susil Prasanna by January meeting with the Loan committee at SVFWO.

So, we hope the work will be conducted with the help of various resource persons and will be on the line of success.
We congradulate the women's group as they are really engage in a good work for empowering women folk in Negombo.
