Hostage Indian Coast Guard will Lead to a disaster in the Future

I do not know what is the mentality of 2 Sri Lankan fishers who hostaged the Indian Coast Guards with out counting any consequences.
Indian Coast Guards are most of the time approach SL fishers and arrest even we are in the Sri Lankan maritime boundary. We do not have any option rather to surrender their forceful interventions against us.
But, yesterday the news about the arrest and hostage of 2 Indian coast guards were raised serious security tension of the SL fishers as the Indian Coast Guards will do the serious attack to our boats even in our waters.
The next news I heard from Prasad Purnimal was confirmed the same fear and I learnt that the two fishermen were killed and burnt by the Indian COast Guards.
This is alarming condition and highly political and tense due to many reasons.

Our multi day boats are operating in the closer to Indian Maritime boarders and will have some serious, unacceptable, unavoidable consequences with this.

Mr. Kumara, a fishermen who released and came to home this morning told me,"This is going to be a very serious situation. Indian coast guard can take us any time even we are operating in SL waters and closer to Indian boarders, they will approach and take us to their jails.I just can't understand these two persons did this harm to all the SL fishers?"

This shows the tension and we need to hope more and more incidents of the arrestments etc. in the multi day fishing operations.
We were saying that we need an amicable solution from the consensus of the Indian and SL governments dialogue.
V.Vivekanandan of ARIF says, "Bilateral discussions are more effective and possible than we talk this as a region of SAARC. SL and Indian case is very particular that bilateral agreements are possible and workable."

NAFSO together with ARIF, some universities and Indian organizations are working on this important and disturbing work in our field.
"We work with SL government to implement the ILO Fishing standard convention for settle the issue of social security of the fishers, fish workers also in the long run." A.Jesudasan shared his views with NAFSO convener.

Herman Kumara
