The dialogues were carried out successfully in 3 fishing districts last 3 days in Mannar, Kilinochchi and Mulaitivu respectively.
In Mannar there were wider representation of Fisheries officials, district fisheries cooperative leaders, media journalists, civil society representatives, rural fishsries organization leaders.
The fisheries assistant director Mr. Mirando shared his experiences and said, "Fishdries cooperative members should be strengthen and empowered to take part conscious decision making process. The comanagement process should be learned the fisher people and engage them."
The Rural fiseries organization leader Mr. Justin said, "We need to consider the southern fishers migration to northern districts. The type of fishing gears, number of people arrivals, indifference to local fishermen due to the areas of permission and unequal treatments to northern fishers are some examples. So we need to take a stand on these issues as a province." Said Justin emphasising the importance of having Comanagement structure and confirming the participation once established the management platform.
