High Hopes and Greetings to Puducherry Congress Government from the Chair person of National Fish Workers Forum

In a NFF Press Statement comrade M. Illango raised his high hopes over recent elected Cingress Government in Puducherry, India.
The NFF Press Statement says as Follows;
On behalf of the fisher communities, National Fishworkers’ Forum (NFF) congratulates and wishes all the best to the new chief minister and the Ministerial team of Puducherry.
The congress party that, during it’s previous regime in Puducherry has provided seperate educational, employment, reservations and economic development for the fisher community which includes the 50% subsidy to the steel boats. The fisher communities are happy that congress government is formed once again in Puducherry.
The previous congress government named the fishing harbor of Puducherry in the name of the great leader Sindanai Sirpi. Singaravelar, the ideologue from the fisher community. It has also enacted many pro fisher schemes including special educational scholarships for the fisher community students.
Shri. Malladi Krishnarao, the then Fisheries Minister under previous congress government took all efforts to form fisher development Corporation and succeeded to get the permission from the union government. This scheme was put on cold storage for the past five years. We request the new government to take all necessary steps to implement the scheme.
Shri. V. Narayanasamy, who, knowing pretty well the issue of Indo – Srilankan fishermen, took all efforts to resolve it by redeeming the confiscated boats and the arrested fishermen from Sri Lanka, during his tenure as MoS in PMO has become the chief minister of Puducherry and therefore the fisher communities are of great expectation that a permanent solution will be found for this long pending issue through his initiatives.  We hope and pray that the Chief Minister of Puducherry will hold talks on this issue in the very first official meeting with the Prime Minister of India and ensure that the 15 arrested fishermen and release the 98 confiscated boats of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry fishermen. We also request, on behalf of the fisher communities, that effort be made to hold the 4th round bilateral talk between the fishermen of the two nations.
M.Ilango Ex.MLA,
