NAFSO conducted a research on Trans border fisheries issues of Sri Lankan Multi Day vessels in December, 2015. This was supported by British High Commission in Sri Lanka with the objective of reduce the violations of maritime boundaries by Sri Lankan Multi Day boat operators.
The Report was published in Sinhala language and circulated among fishing communities, among the fisherwomen folk in Beruwala and Negombo fishery harbors.
The contents of the report was focused the attention on the difficulties of the fishermen and women faced once the fishermen get arrested in foreign countries and kept in jails many months.
Zarah Imtiaz of Ceylon Today news paper got the Survey report from NAFSO and quoted important parts to include the article.
