Awareness program conducted in collaboration with Aham development organization on SeaPlane project at Batticoloa lagoon today.
The community leaders, women representatives, NGOs of Batticoloa and Trinco took part at the workshop of the SeaPlane education program.
There were lot of debates on the current development process which is top down and devstate the communities and destructive to the environment. We need to be conscious about current development model and the space given to vulnerable and underpriviledge communoties. It is more than 50/. the population of the community who depend on natural resources for their livelihoods. The farmers, fisherfolk, plantation communities, pastoralists and women in all sectors constitute the majority population in the country though their basic human rights are being violated and marginalized from the current development model. We the working class should get together and fight to resist, retain and regain our rights.
Fight againsy SeaPlane is one among hundreds of such struggles. Let us unite and fight is the message from today WS.
The SeaPlane struggle the victorious experience of Negombo lagoon documentary film was displayed by Laksiri Fernando, the youth coordinator of NAFSO and he facilitated the diaogue towards a collective action among Batticoloa lagoon.
