It is 5 years gone after BP oil spill in Lousiana. Small scale Fishing communities are the worst hit through the consequences of the oil sludges spreaded in the Mexican Gulf area.
"We could not go for fishing for 5 years. Most socially, economically and environmentally devastated are the small scale fisherfolk in the Gulf of Mexico.
We were struggling for survival after the hurricane Katrina and BP oil aggragated our bad situation." Bayron, the mayor of Plaquemine parish.
"The world people may think there is a serious and intensive mechanism to rectify and save people from agony as we are living in so called most powerful nation in the world." Added Bayron explaining the situation of the agonies undergoing the communities in the region.
However, the way the people and institutions attempting to come out from the agony is impressed me. Kendra a commercial fisher's wife, Sandy, an advocate of fisher communities, and a person like Baroyan as a policy maker in the low in the heirachy working in collaboration.
Most importantly the church Rev. Edward is giving leadership to the community with a vision.
This is very important collaboration to face such disasters under "disaster capitalism" in USA or else where in the world. Finally what we expect is the free, just and peaceful society to live all in equity and dignity.
