The REINCORPFISH group is working on to propose a policy frame work on bring back the excluded fishing communities into fisheries with the collaboration of Practcionors (CSOs) & Researchers (Academia in the Universities) in South Asia(India & Sri Lanka) and South Africa. The program is being facilitated with the team leader Prof. Maarten Bavinc of University of Amsterdam.
Today, the team met at University of Amsterdam at Netherlands and I had the priviledge to be one among them as I am facilitating the bottom up governance of the Sri Lankan side of the Palk Bay.
There was a dialogue on current context of South Asian and South African situation, governance process in both the regions, empowerment of small scale fisheries, interacting governance, capacity building in both regions, knowledge regarding conflict and cooperation over natural resources are some of the topics we covered during the day.
It is another 9 months till March to deliver some agreed deliverables in project terms. There will be interesting debates coming week at the MARE conference.
