The continuous efforts to build North - South solidarity continue at Jaffna today with wider participation of women, scholars of university teachers, religious, fisher leaders, media groups.
The main focus was to strengthen the people base including marginalized women and internally displaced people, landless groups, family members of the disappeared groups in the northern districts.
At the meeting the voice of women were attracted the main attention. Ms. Selwamalar, IDP due to KKS high security zone said, "We are displaced in the name of national security. We can respect that and no doubt of it. But what we can not respect is when tourists are coming to Thalsevana hotel they come to next door of my own home which was situated where Thalsevana hotel built today. Is any one can justify my 25 years of displacement.? We feel there is no attention to our grievances even from the good governance government."
