Mohommed Iqbal my senior comrade at Science faculty in Peradeniya phoned me Monday and informed me the Tamil translated book launching "History Absole Me" of Gayatri Gananathapilai, his wife, my batch mate on Thursday evening at Dr. N. M. Perera center.
I was delighted to hear it and decided to attend the function.
At the book launching ceremony Gayatri said, "I saw the leader Fidel's book "History will Absolve Me" in my father's book shelf in my age of 14 and read the book without much understand the content of it. What ever I understand was impressed and inspired me very much. In my years in Peradeniya again I had the opportunity read the same book and it was doubled my spirit and inspiration. So I decided to bring this to local Tamil communities those who read Tamil."
While welcoming me personally, Iqbal told me "Comrade, we need to do this type of activities to inspire younger generation those who are need some vision of their lives."
Jayatissa de Silva a senior journalist said at the opening speech, "Results of Monkada attack and establishment of independent socialist country call Cuba proved over and over again the Words of Comrade Fidel, "History will Absolve Me".
US attempt to break down socialist Cuba with violence, economic barriers, invasions and many more ways. But the leadership of Comrade Fidel did not allow to happen." added Mr. Jayatissa.
Prof. Laxman Jayatilake, chairperson of National Education Commission said at the book launching said,"all our professionals should learn lessons from the best practices of great country Cuba as their attitudes over their fellow customers, for instance over the patients by doctors are totally different to ours and we need to learn from them."
I am happy to be with Gayatri, Iqbal and Muthuwatta in this evening after several years after the book fair in Colombo.
We congratulate Gayatri for her contribution to Sri Lankan society with the publication.
