"Valarpirai"- Mannar & "Uthayam"-Trinco organized women's day prog

The women headed families who became widows due to war, tsunami, disappearnces or any other natural disaster are socially marginalized, economically poor, politically powerless and helpless in many aspects in the society today. In recent report revealed that the total number of WHF are exceeding 85,000. NAFSO women's program has aimed at empower those affected women as one of it's programs.
NAFSO has established district women committees in N/E districts as women organizations which are lead by women.

The women expected to display their unity and strength as they might feel their power as an organization during the International Women's Day. At the same time women leaders expected to compile their issues and to negotiate with the authorities, political leadership in particular.
The Valarpirai women committee organized the women's day on 10th March at Mannar and the Uthayam women Committee organized their women day on 12th March at Trincomalee.
Both events were highlighted the strength of women and their powerful interventions to the issues.
