Media Journalists on Protest against Brutal attack on them



Last week Police attacked 5 media journalists when they reported the University Students Protest at University Grant Commission, demanding release of 6 students who are keeping in jail for weeks now. The charge against them is that the hooting to the Higher Education Minister when he visited Peradeniya University.
Students had organized massive protest which attended more than 5000 students from various universities around the country.
While they were going back home after the protest is over in the late evening, Police attacked the students and the media journalists who were there to report the incident were also attacked by the Police.
What Police claimed is that the Students were well organized and thrown stones to them and more than 25 Policemen were injured.
However, the 5 media organizations organized the protest with the collaboration of CSOs, political parties, trade unions, religious groups attended the protest which was held at Lipton Circle on 19th October.
NAFSO media unit also organized few people to support the protest and attended with some crowd for the protest.
