Yesterday, there was a protest at Negombo which was organized by a trade union.
I got the message from comrade Saranapala and comrade Freddie on this matter.
But, the relevent people did not inform me abouth this situation as they may think I am the one in the opposition to them.
In fact, I convened a meeting with Freddie, Namal, NAFSO team as well as Sri Vimukthi Activists and Lagoon Fishers activists to attend the work.
However, there was no positive response from Namal and also from Freddie as the person who was assaulted by Police is a close friend of police and have harassed other fellow fisher people when he is friendly with Police.
Anyhow, I also could not attend the work unfortunately as I visited to Puttlam hospital to see Suranga Fernando, our fisher leader at Thalawila as he met with an accident previous day.
In the evening, I inquired from Freddie about the protest at Negombo and found there were around 150 people gathered and no serious protest conducted by the group.
I am ashamed to say, I could not attend and we would have attended to the same as a matter of Human rights violation of a citizen of the country.
This may happen to me tomorrow and will not any one to attend.
