Ministry of Fisheries has supported to construct a car park along the lagoon bank at Negombo. The construction work is going on along the lagoon bank from Pitipana lellama to Duwa junction.
The fishermen are fully against this saying this is a destruction.
Aruna Roshantha, a trade union leader told us that this is illegal.
"There is no legal approval for this work. Divisional secretary at Negombo and District secretary Gampaha both say there is no EIA report produced hence illegal activity."
The pictures say the level of destruction in the lagoon.
