NAFSO Mobilized it's partner organizations, citizen committees, women committees, fisheries committees and also district committee members to submit the proposals to the drafting committee of the constitution today which was held at Visumpaya at Colombo.
NAFSO partners were represented from Jaffna, Trincomalee, Mannar, Ampara, Mannar, Galle, Kalutara, Negombo, Puttlam, Colombo, Kurunegala and Polonnaruwa districts and brought written submissions to submit the committee.
A fisher woman who came from Galle representing Southern Fisheries Organization said; "We came here to register our stand on small scale fisheries issues. We want to see how the cinstitutiin would ensure fisher people's rights. We expect to see how our sea would protect from destruction from the destructive fishing gear operations."
Several other CBO leaders attended session would meet the committee ince the committee visit districts to collect people's views on new constitution.
