BBS disturbed the families of disappeared meeting

Right to Life human rights center organized a meeting of The Families of Disappearances at CSR yesterday, 4th August. A group of people around 40 0ut of them 12 are with Buddhist monk's robes were attempted to invade the meeting and disturbed the organized activities there. The had invaded the Center and shouted that "We will not allow any one to betray our motherland". We can not allow Maha Viru families (LTTE cadres families who lost their lives during the civil war) to betray our solders who sacrifice their lives to save our country".
The mobs main target was Brito Fernando, the chairperson of families of disappeared  Ms. Nimalka Fernando a prominent human rights defender at their attack.
It is very important that there were around 4 key diplomatic mission representatives including acting ambassador of USA lively watched and witnessed the incident. Very importantly the US embassy in Sri Lanka issued a statement mentioning "Sri Lanka government should ensure the protection of those families who attended and faced the threats today."
At the moment the US acting ambassador said "I will take this up with Prime Minister".
The organisers had to give up the meeting at CSR as well as at Ragama meeting between Southern and Northern mothers. There is no freedom to exchange views between Sinhala and Tamil mothers in the Post War Sri Lanka.
Within last month there were 3 attacks to Tamil  journalists who came to south. Those  were, once in Girithale, second at Negombo and the other one at Colombo.
