SFO- Matara team organized a meeting with the family members of the disappeared fishermen in the sea due to the Super Cyclone on 27th November 2013.
There were 7 women who are the bread winners of the victimized families with 15 children from the same families presented at the meeting at Dondra today.
They receive LKR 300 as government welfare scheme per family per month which is not adequate even one meal of the day.
They have written letters to the President, ministers of fisheries, social welfare and disaster management of GOSL.
The major issue is to find ways to sustain the lives and find ways for livelihoods. This is what we expect to get the assistance for build up their livelihoods for the families.
We planned two aspects;
1. How to get the assistance from the state sponsored schemes,
2. How to approach non state agencies for find solution.
3. How do we as SFO/NAFSO assist the familes for self help for stand their own feet,
Thanks to Sahan and he will continue the agreed actions at the meeting.
