CSOs continue their organizational strengthening process against the oppression on CSOs through various ways by the regime. The mechanism to oppress the civil activities using the NGO secretariat which is under the Ministry of Defence.
However our attempt is to create the space for civil society for democratic activities in the country. We are engage in a political activity and no doubt of it is within our mandates of empowering people. Not necessarily the party politics. We take political positions which is right and wrong based on our basic principles. Civil society must have the space and channels to funds if they work independently to the govt and any political party. If the govt is trying to obstruct the process of CSO activities this violate the UN Charter on Human Right Defenders.
However, how do we respect the political pluralism in this society? We need not to be partisan in this process. We as CSOs should not party to any political party actions. But we need to build up civil society forum which work for a democratic space. There should be a collective effort to make our space widen. For this matter there should be a strong people's action against this oppression. We need to find alternative media, strategies actions to change this.
