Police attempts to Ban the protest at Chilaw became Futile

Even second time Chilaw Police had attempted to get ban order from the Majistrate court at Chilaw. Assuming there will be some sort of violence occur and public will face the difficulties, police requested the ban order to the 15th Fisher people's campaign at Chilaw. It is our salute to Chilaw majistrate and assure that we wont go for any violence or any kind of public harassments in our campaign purposely. While we consider this as an important development as university Students Satyagraha at Peradeniya and Anuradhapura was brutally beaten up and chased away. This is great as our members who had some sort of doubts of Police action/s were released and got moral strengths. In Jaffna and Pothuwil also similar incidents reported as Police and Army approached our colleagues and disturbed the people's participation to the campaign. We are really feel bad about these harassments and intimidations to our members and colleagues in the field. We need to find democratic space for right to freedom of expression. Herman
