We are in the final day of the REINCORPISH program partners meeting.
I was able to screen the video documentary "Poaches in to our Waters" which was produced by NAFSO.
There was a positive responses received from the audience though V. Vivekanandan gave a comment in his presentation about their film production program related to REINCORPFISH.
"We are need to think of the plight of the Rameshwaram fishermen who are deprived with the present situation. They are really need the attention as they are the worst hit at the present situation. The labeling "Poachers" some what painful though this is the reality of the present context."
However, the intention of the production of NAFSO was to educate the people in the negotiation table for a solution on Palk Bay, Indian trawler issue and also to change the public opinion and concepts among wider Indian civil society, reflect the realities of the Northern fishermen in Sri Lanka.
The documentary will be uploaded in NAFSO web site, REINCORPFISH web site as well as You Tube within few days.
This will be a beginning for a base for a dialogue which Sri Lankan fishermen who are traveling to India for a dialogue with their Indian counterparts.
I am sure, there will be a healthy dialogue if there is right persons in the negotiation table and also with a relevant agenda to find a solution with an implementation mechanism.
Let us keep hope the best of Small Scale Fishermen from the both the sides.
The Seminar organize by Universities of Colombo, Ruhuna, Jaffna and Amsterdam on 21 and 22nd will also be contribute to the 27th Fishermen to Fishermen Dialogue which will be held at Chennai, India.
