Today, it is exactly one year gone after the assasination of the Prominent editor Lasantha Wickramathunge. There were 23 court appearances by police for the reporting of the investigations. But, nothing has happened.
Today, we commemorated Lasantha at Jayawardene Centre, and we felt very sad about our media friends. It was only very few people from media attended while more than 200 civil society participants attended the work.
Lasantha, your voice was not stopped.
The PfF formed in front of your body.
Our comrades shouted "Satakaya-Ghathakaya" [The person who ware the Shole is the Killer]
K.W.Janaranjana, Ravaya editor said, "As govt could not do any investigation and bring the culprits to the courts, govt should take the responsibility of the assasination of Lasantha."
Ranil Wickremesinghe, opposition leader said, "MR always says Lasantha is his close friend. Why MR can not order his police to bring the culprits in to the courts. This inability gives us a clue who is responsible for the assasination".
Sirithunge Jayasuriya, Presidential candidate, said "The voice of Lasantha is flowing into the people's hearts and mind through the Platform for freedom. So, his assasination did bring big change to SL society. This is very important."
Lasantha, we salute to you. You had your own ideologies which I did not accept fully. But, we respect your every right to have your ideologies and work on it. That is the democracy.
On the other hand we can see how our society value the persons life through media people's eye.
