"We dont want corrupted politicians to elect again. We want democratic reforms" Veediye Virodaya

Veediye Virodaya lead street campaign, rally, leaflet distribution and picketing at Fort station Colombo yesterday.
The main slogans were;
No to corrupted, goon politicians again. Establish reform proposals promised at the Presidential election.
Thousands of people gathered form all around the counyry had serious frustrations and hate feelings against President Maitripala Sirisena as he had given his consent to run corrupted politicians at the general election in August, who were defeated the ideology and the authoritarian culture and not only a single person at the Presidential election 2015.
At the rally Nimalka Fernando, a prominent HR activist in Sri Lanka said, "We did not expect President Maitripala to allow corrupted authoritarian goons to run general election 2015. We should send a message to President that 6.2 million people who voted him are totally against the decision."

"We are civil activists and civil organizations are take a stand to fight against the oppressive regime and corrupted system. We were able to defeat the regime with mobilization the whole country uniting against the regime. Our role now is tobring all forces together to ensure the reform policies established by Maitripala Sirisena - Ranil Wickramasinghe government." Said Brito Fernando, a member of conveners of Veediye Virodaya at the rally.

The reform proposals approved by 112 civil society organizations were distributed. In fact the organizers planned for a present amended reform proposals with the reflections of Maitri- Ranil 100 day Program to build a new country. However, due to political uncertainty and attempts to form new political party United National Front for Good Governance all most all the leaders attended the dialogue and could not attend to receive the policy drafts.
Some leaders including Ranil Wickramasinghe, the leader of largest political party personaly informed his inability to attend this crucial moment.
We do hope to present the proposals to political party leaders to integrate the reform proposals to their election manifestos.
