"We are refugees in our own country" -say Vibrant Women leaders in Paanama

Paanama land struggle is moving forward without any solution. Cabinet decision taken on 11 February this year has not been respected and implemented.
The people in Valikamam North in Valali and Thellippillai were given back their land with the same cabinet decision and people there are gradually settling down after 25 years of displacement.
Paanama people are wondering why their land is not given back after 5 months of Cabinet decision and 5 years of displacement.
"We are the refugees of our country. We were not affected even during the time of war. We are happy that the northern province Valikamam people have gone back to their lands. But why not ithe same Cabinet decision is not effectively applied to us." Asked Kusumawathie, a desperate woman, a displaced land owner due to grabbed their land.
Those women were in the forefront of the land confrontations between Police and Paanama community on 15th July.
"We won't give up our struggle till we receive our land back." Echoed the womenfolk's voices as the coastal lands are their life, livelihoods.
