Yoganayagam amma: I met her at Kattaiparichchan IDP camp in Sampur. There are 368 IDPs living in this camp alone in Kattaiparichchan with Yoganayagam amma last 5 years and there are similar 4 camps for Sampur IDPS.
Before they come to Kattaiparchchan they were lived in Sathurukondan for 5 years in Batticoloa and many camps names unknown.
"We have nothing to lose. We faced all possible difficulties in our lives. I am living with my daughter and grand daughter with lot of harrassments. It is very hard to live with out income. I am surviving with Samurdhi allowance and also the income we get from chicks." Yoganayagam amma shared her situation.
Hema, daughter of Yoganayagam says; "there is a big difference after 8th January. We feel free from big oppression. Even a responsible politician or official from district secretary meet us only after that.
We are happy with the decision of President Maitri pala Sirisena to release the land. We thank to TNA leaders too for their mediation."
Even after the decision of President, Navy want another 6 months to release the land occupied by them.
"Our demand is to immediate withdrawal of Navy from our lands. Also need to reconstruct our school and assist to construct our houses." added Kema daughter of Yoganayagam amma and also a village leader.
"We may go to another hunger strike unless these things happen soon. We did not want to give up hunger strike today as we wamted to continue the faste unto the death. But the today court decision which is given at Supreme court in favour of Sampur people has changed the hard decision. We will wait and see". Added Hemalatha at the end.
The Supreme court ordered to release around 894 acres of land to Sampur people today. The rest of the 274 acres which are occupied by Navy will be released after 6 months period. So Yoganayagam amma and her fellow campers in Kattaiparichchan have to suffer another 6 months.
